Morwenna says "I am totally delighted...the bowl is so beautful!"

It just goes to show - it's always worth opening our emails - we will be giving away more fabulous prizes to lucky winners throughout the year, so open those emails - you could be our next winner!

V&A; Museum - British Design 1948 - 2012 Exhibition
01/05/2012 09:19:06

Last weekend we visited the V&A Museum 'British Design 1948 - 2012' Exhibition - what a fantastic  afternoon! The Exhibition is wonderful and covers a diverse range of design and innovation - from Concorde to furniture, signage to David Bowie's costume - all celebrating the creativity of British designers.

The exhibition traces the changes in British design over the last 60 years, showing how designers have responded to the changing economic, political and cultural landscape.

During the Fifties, modernism influenced not only the planning of new towns and domestic and commercial architecture, but also the very core of our homes, and we craved the stylish modern furniture designs of G-Plan and Ercol. The Sixties saw the new generation of 'flat-pack' furniture design - the start of the 'throwaway' society.

The world has changed enormously over the last 6 decades - music, fashion, technology, software, architecture - the list goes on. This superb exhibition traces those changes and examines 'the shifting nature of British design over 60 years'

The British Design 1948 - 2012 exhibition is on at the V&A Museum until 12th August. Opening times and booking details can be reached via the V&A website

Adam Hussain is sent to Coventry!
20/02/2012 15:56:29

Adam Hussain Contemporary Glass Designer

Adam Hussain is spending a great deal of his time these days in Coventry - not because we are not speaking to him, but because he is the Artist in Residence at Coventry University's Faculty of Engineering and Computing!

Adam studied at Coventry University, graduating in 2008 with a first in Contemporary Craft. Since then, he has developed his own range of fabulous glassware, in addition to completeing a number of commercial commissions for the likes of Volvo and Theatre Absolute.

At the University, Adam will be creating a five metre suspended art installation made from a metal and kiln-formed glass. This will hang through an eight metre void over the café area - we will post images when the installation is complete!

You can read about Adam on the Coventry University Faculty of Engineering and Computing blog, and also see what he has in store for later in the year.

On a smaller scale, you can see the fabulous range of Adam's glassware for the home and maybe treat yourself to one of his stunning bowls!

We are extremely proud that one of our designers, John Green, won the Highly Commended Award in the Grand Designs Product of the Year 2011 category, for the fabulous John Green Embrace Table

John Green's Embrace Table was described as an example of simple, attractive design - it consists of two interlocking pieces which together form a table and storage unit, but separately they can form a child's seat and desk!
